Hi,

I use the 6.3 Windows based version of Celcat. I have administrator access rights to amend, change and correct data.

However we have many users that require Celcat purely for the checking of rooms and staffing hours, for which we use the Web based version.

My question is this. Can the Web based version be changed to an extent where you can print timetables and statistics in a similar format to the Window's based version? It's otherwise very difficult to read and make sense of. The print facility seems to be limited to the print screen function.

We also have the PDF version, but when printing data, you are unable to change the span of weeks. The weeks printed are deafult and don't appear to be changeable.

Is the only solution to give others the basic look up admin rights on the Windows version, or can the format of the Web based version be amended to suit the needs set out above?

Kind Regards

Chris

Hi Chris,

Unfortunately the current versions of Web Server does not allow you to print the timetables. As you mentioned, you can use Web Publisher to print the timetables but you are correct that it should be available via the Web. We are looking at completely re-designing the Web Server application to bring it more in line with the client version but this will not be available in the near future

With regards

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response.

We also have the problem of checking room, Staff and Module utilisation in the form of statistics. The web based version doesn't appear to have this option which is vitial for our Curriculum Managers. Is that something we can expect as a change in the future or would this not be possible?

The Usage chart within the Windows version could be very useful in the Web version. Could this also be possible?

We are implementing changes for the next Academic Year starting in September and want to have the suitable and correct system in place in meeting the needs of the Curriculum. Would any of the changes outlined be in place before then?

Kind Regards

Chris

Hi Chris,

This stats feature will also be included when we re-design Web Server. Unfortuantely it will not be available for you when your next Academic year starts.

Hi there,

This is great news that development work is being done on the webserver front-end for users.  I support a few users who are used to using the client when in their offices, and the feedback is that the webserver front-end does everything they need, but it would be nicer if it was closer to the client.

Conceptually they work as though they're using the client, and then find a way to make webserver do that task.

I would be very interested to see how that development proceeds as sometimes the full client (I'm aware there is a Client Lite) can be a bit overblown for some people, and all services can be collated together (Timetabler, SAT, RoomBooker) through a web portal which could be a lot easier for me to maintain.  I could also consider a wider-scale rollout for Celcat use.
