Hi

Was wondering how other institutions deal with  developing timetables and using web publisher?

Do you have a separate timetable database with timetables you are developing on them?

Do you develop timetables on your live database?

If so do you publish them on the web publisher or hide them until they are completed?

Thanks

Hi Lisa

We use a new database for each academic year.  So at the moment we have a live database for 2008-09, and another for 2009-10 which only the timetabling team can access whilst we do the bulk of the development work.  Once we start the new academic year we send out .pdf files of timetables for the two main teaching blocks, first in August and second in January.  We continue to do routine updates and development in the live database.  But we only ever publish on the web four weeks at a time so most staff can't see where changes are taking place until nearer the time.   If there are major changes we send out revised .pdf files.
